Is ACN a Pyramid Scheme | Scam?

I love this question and it is one I get very often.

First we need to know what exactly a Pyramid Scheme is and what it is not.

The common misconception is that a pyramid scheme is any company whose compensation and levels are shaped like a pyramid. If this was the case every company in the world would be an illegal pyramid scheme.

You have the CEO at the top, vice president, regional director, and so on down the chain.

In reality here is what the SEC defines as a pyramid.

“participants attempt to make money solely by recruiting new participants into the program. The hallmark of these schemes is the promise of sky-high returns in a short period of time for doing nothing other than handing over your money and getting others to do the same “.

Traditional legitimate network marketing companies will always have a product attached and will pay commissions on the sale of these products and not on the recruitment of new reps. This is what makes them a legitimate business model.

The bottom line is the company has to provide a viable product that will stand alone in a retail market and commissions can only be paid from the sales of these products or acquiring of new customers. Not from the recruitment of new reps.
